BC Place Gates & Entrances: Where to Enter on Match Day
BC Place has multiple gates. Using the right one saves you 20+ minutes in line on match day. Here is what you need to know.
The Gates
BC Place has 5 public gates for FIFA World Cup matches:
| Gate | Location | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Gate A | North side (Terry Fox Way, facing Rogers Arena) | Main entrance. Closest to SkyTrain. Busiest. |
| Gate B | Northeast (Expo Blvd side) | Good alternative to Gate A. Shorter lines. |
| Gate C | Southeast (Quebec Street side) | Least crowded. Best if coming from Main Street-Science World station. |
| Gate D | South side (Pacific Blvd) | May be restricted on match days due to road closures. Check day-of. |
| Gate G | Northwest (Beatty Street side) | Close to Yaletown. Moderate lines. |
Which Gate Should You Use?
Coming from SkyTrain (Main Street-Science World): Use Gate C or Gate B. You walk the Last Mile route south along Quebec Street or through the concourse. Gate C is the least crowded.
Coming from Stadium-Chinatown station: Do not use this as your World Cup match-day access plan. TransLink says pedestrian access to BC Place from Stadium-Chinatown will not be available on local match days.
Coming from Yaletown/Granville pedestrian zone: Use Gate G. Walk east on Robson or Smithe to Beatty Street.
Coming from Chinatown/Gastown: Use Gate B. Walk south on Abbott or Expo Blvd.
Driving/being dropped off on Quebec Street side: Use Gate C. Quietest entrance, fastest security.
When Doors Open
Vancouver FWC26 says the Match Day Spectator Route opens four hours before kickoff and stadium doors open three hours before kickoff. FIFA requires early entry for security screening.

Security Screening
FIFA World Cup security is stricter than regular BC Place events:
- Clear bag policy — FIFA World Cup bag rules differ from standard BC Place events and may allow slightly smaller sizes. Read our complete bag policy guide.
- Metal detectors at every gate
- Bag search at every gate
- No re-entry — Once you leave, you cannot come back in
- Prohibited items: Umbrellas, laptops, professional cameras (detachable lens), noisemakers, large flags on poles, outside food and drinks
The Pro Move: Arrive Early, Use Gate C
Most fans default to Gate A because it is the familiar regular-event approach. For World Cup match days, the official fan flow starts from Main Street-Science World, so Gate C and Gate B are better starting assumptions.
Gate C on the southeast side is consistently the shortest line. It is a 5-minute walk from Gate A around the stadium. If you are walking the Last Mile from Main Street-Science World station, Gate C is actually closer than Gate A.
Arrive near doors-open time. You get first pick of concession lines, time to find your seat, and you avoid the final security crush.
Inside BC Place
- Capacity: Tens of thousands of fans. Expect full-stadium crowd flow and arrive early.
- Retractable roof: Will be closed or open depending on weather. You will be covered either way in the seating bowl.
- Concessions: Food and drink available inside. Expect long lines at halftime. Buy before the match or during play.
- Washrooms: Located at every gate level. Lower bowl washrooms are less crowded during halftime.
- Wi-Fi: Free "BC Place" Wi-Fi is normally available, but expect it to be slow with a full event crowd.
